Dog Training

School trust lands were given to the State at statehood solely for the financial support of schools and institutions. The mechanism provided by the state constitution to produce income is primarily through leasing for grazing. Dog training is not an activity allowed by the constitution on school trust lands and may interfere with grazing.

Although school trust lands are not multiple use lands, in most cases they are open for non-vehicular access for recreational purposes. This access does not include dog training but includes hiking, birdwatching, fishing and hunting. If in doubt about a proposed activity, please call Jerry at 328-2800.
