INFORMATION REQUIRED TO PROCESS GEOPHYSICAL PERMITS
ACROSS NORTH DAKOTA STATE SCHOOL TRUST LANDS
The following must be submitted to the State Land Department by the permitting company:
- Map of shoot area
- Copies of signed permits from surrounding landowners (not required but speeds up our review process considerably)
- Signed permit from mineral lessee (if any) if they aren’t the client
- Open leases will be permitted or denied on a case-by-case review
- Permit form which includes the following:
- Complete legal description
- Type of program used (e.g., 3D, vibroseis or shothole, ##’ holes, #lb charge for example)
- Name of surface lessee (if any)
- Wording indicating 100% of payment to be made directly to state
- Wording indicating agreement to contact surface lessee prior to entry
- Wording indicating permit is valid for one year
- Inquire as to fee schedule per acre, mile, square, or shot hole
- Amount of compensation being offered
Prior to leasing, the Historical Society and Geological Survey review our tracts for historical, archaeological and paleontological concerns. If an addendum was attached to the lease, we will notify them prior to issuing the seismic permit.
