The proposed Limited Land Sales, Non-Grant Land Acquired After January 1, 2020 Through Foreclosure or Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure, and Abandoned Railroad Right of Way Ownership Policies were presented to the Board of University and School Lands (Board) on November 24, 2020, for the first reading and will be presented to the Board at the Board’s December 17, 2020 meeting for the second reading.  If adopted at the second reading the policies will become effective on January 1, 2021.  Comments must be in writing via email or letter sent to dtlrequest@nd.gov and must be received by the Department of Trust Lands by 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2020.

Notice of Postponement of Fall Surface Lease Auctions Online with EnergyNet - Updated Dates!

Bidding will commence on October 12th and tracts will begin closing on October 20, 2020 ending on October 23, 2020.  Open and closing of tracts is staggered.  Adams County will open the auction and it will continue in alphabetical order by county.

Due to COVID-19, Governor Burgum issued an Executive Order on April 8, 2020 , allowing the Department of Trust Lands to hold their fall surface lease auction online partnering with EnergyNet.  

Please call EnergyNet with any auction process related questions. Their dedicated Government Resources customer service team can be reached at 877-351-4488 to assist you with the registration process and are available to answer any of your questions. The Department can be reached at 701-328-2800 for specific tract questions.

The nomination deadline for the August 2020 OG Lease Auction was June 19th, 2020.

August Nominated Tract List

EnergyNet will begin auctioning the approved nominated tracts beginning on July 28th through August 4th.

The proposed Continuing Appropriation Authority Policy were presented to the Board of University and School Lands (Board) on June 25, 2020 for the first reading and will be presented to the Board at the Board’s July 29, 2020 meeting for the second reading.  The policies will become effective after the second reading in accordance with the Board’s policy titled Policy Introduction/Amendment/Passage.  Comments will be accepted by the Department of Trust Lands through 5:00 p.m. on July 22, 2020.

Comments must be in writing and submitted to the Department of Trust Lands at dtlrequest@nd.gov.
